Category: Ableton Racks
Devices: Auto Filter Simpler
Version: Live 8.4
Format: Live Set (.als)
I made a "filter house bass" Ableton Live Instrument Rack, all based on a sample of my x0xb0x (a TB-303 clone). It's designed to get bass sounds similar to those in tracks like Daft Punk's "Voyager" and Patrick Alavi's "Power." Though, even just by playing with the seven macros, it is capable of a lot of different tones, so you can also, for example, get more reserved sounds like the "Around the World" bass.
You can download the Live Set containing it and some example basslines here (the Live Set and rack were made in Ableton Live 8.2.2, though it should work in newer versions of Live [including v9] and possibly in older 8.x.x versions).
(909 drum samples in that Live Set are from analogindustries )
If you want to keep the rack for future use, just drag it from the track to Ableton Live's Browser and drop it where you want it.
Enjoy, and make sure you fiddle with the knobs to get different sounds!
-Ben
EDIT: Don't forget, you can always stick a compressor on the bass to glue it together!

Very well done! It sounds fantastic. I really like the macro mappings and chain of fx in there... every element tastefully builds on every other. One thing i changed when i saved it in my library was made the rack output to 0db instead of +3 and replaced the limiter with a "GluLimiter" for an even more rich sound without clipping. I'm going to use this to make a funk/disco beat for my 31 beats in 31 days project!
